Steve Wormer, host of the popular You Are Worthy Network Podcast, had the honor of interviewing the incredible Becky Rasmussen, Founder, President, and CEO of Call to Freedom.
Becky’s story is one of pain, perseverance, faith, forgiveness, and purpose. ❤️
Growing up with a verbally abusive mother and a father who did not protect her, Becky experienced deep wounds of rejection, abandonment, and low self-worth. For years, those experiences shaped the way she saw herself and her place in the world.
But Becky’s story didn’t end there.
🙏 In 2006, Becky became a Christian, and looking back, she can now see how God was preparing her through the difficult chapters of her life for the calling He would eventually place before her.
In 2016, Becky founded Call to Freedom, a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to transforming the response to human trafficking through survivor-centered care, prevention, education, advocacy, and strategic community collaboration.
And the impact has been extraordinary.
🔥 Call to Freedom has helped more than 2,000 victims of human trafficking, ranging in age from just 2 years old to 75 years old. Today, Becky leads a team of approximately 30 people who are committed to serving some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
But perhaps one of the most powerful parts of Becky’s story is what happened in her relationship with her mother.
Despite years of hurt and abuse, Becky chose forgiveness. She was able to be there for her mother during the final season of her life—and her mother ultimately found the Lord. 🙏❤️
Becky reminds us that our wounds don’t have to define our future. Sometimes the very places where we have experienced the deepest pain can become places where God develops compassion, courage, and purpose.
In this powerful conversation, Becky and Steve talk about:
✨ Overcoming rejection, abandonment, and low self-worth
✨ The journey from childhood wounds to purpose
✨ Finding faith in the middle of difficult circumstances
✨ The power of forgiveness
✨ How God can use our experiences to prepare us for our calling
✨ The devastating reality of human trafficking
✨ Why protecting the vulnerable requires all of us
✨ The incredible work being done through Call to Freedom
✨ Courageous leadership and serving others
✨ Turning awareness into action
Becky’s message is ultimately about freedom—freedom from shame, freedom from the wounds of the past, and freedom for those who have been exploited and victimized.
Her story is a powerful reminder that your past does not get the final word on your future.
You are worthy of love, respect, and success. And sometimes, the greatest impact we can make begins when we decide to use what we’ve been through to help someone else find freedom. 💙🔥
