DeAnna Curtis Bowens
Inside the You Are Worthy Network, I had the incredible honor of interviewing DeAnna Curtis-Bowens, a woman whose story radiates God’s grace, healing, and purpose. 🙏
From Chicago to Austin, Virginia Beach, and now Tampa, DeAnna’s journey has been one of faith through fire. Molested at a young age, she once questioned her worth and her future — but God had already written a greater decree over her life! ✝️
Today, DeAnna is a speaker, coach, and author of The Decree: Launched into the Limelight of God’s Influence, a stirring account of triumph over adversity through faith and perseverance. 🌟
In our conversation, DeAnna reminded us to never be afraid to tell our stories and to let go of unforgiveness, because freedom flows when we do. 💕 Her life beautifully declares that God can redeem any past, restore every heart, and rewrite every story for His glory! 🙌✨
Question & Answer

Who is DeAnna Curtis Bowens and what does she do today?
DeAnna “Mrs. D.” Curtis Bowens is a keynote speaker, author, mentor, and entrepreneur with nearly four decades of corporate experience. She helps women move beyond limiting circumstances, heal, build confidence, and step into their God-given identity and calling through faith, resilience, and purpose-driven leadership.
Where is DeAnna from, and what major life moves shaped her journey?
She’s originally from Chicago, Illinois, where she grew up in the projects. Seeking change, she moved to Austin, Texas in 1985, later lived in Virginia Beach, and is now based in Tampa, Florida. Each move marked a new season of growth, healing, and spiritual direction.
What personal experiences influenced DeAnna’s message about healing and worthiness?
DeAnna shared painful chapters including childhood molestation, a teen pregnancy, and the trauma that followed an abortion decision. These experiences brought shame and guilt, but through returning to God, inner healing, and deep forgiveness, she found freedom, restored identity, and a renewed sense of worth.
Why does DeAnna emphasize forgiveness so strongly?
She teaches that forgiveness is not excusing what happened. It’s “soul care” that frees you from bitterness and emotional poisoning. DeAnna explained that unforgiveness can harm a person spiritually, physically, and mentally, while forgiveness opens the door to deeper healing and restoration.
What is DeAnna building now, and what’s next for her mission?
DeAnna is working toward launching a nonprofit called Miss D’s Place (a facility vision that began as a home for pregnant teens), applying for a 501(c)(3), and assembling board members. She’s also expanding her speaking, collaborating on another book, planning an audiobook version of The Decree, and preparing future projects including a powerful book about meeting her father later in life.
