Originally from the Chicago projects, DeAnna’s journey led her through major life pivots, including becoming a young mother, relocating to Austin, Texas for a fresh start, and later confronting deep trauma, depression, and the weight of past decisions. Through surrender, healing, and a forgiveness journey that transformed her from the inside out, she rededicated her life to Christ and discovered her purpose: creating a safe, restorative home for pregnant teenagers. That vision has grown into a developing nonprofit initiative, Miss D’s Place, a future facility designed to provide housing, education, and support for young women.
Now based in Tampa, Florida, DeAnna is the author of The Decree, a memoir centered on faith, resilience, and the freedom that comes through forgiveness. She also offers resources like her free ebook on “Godfidence” and is expanding her impact through speaking, coaching, and collaboration with Kingdom Influencer, helping others share their stories and lead with courage. Where is DeAnna from, and what major life moves shaped her journey?
She’s originally from Chicago, Illinois, where she grew up in the projects. Seeking change, she moved to Austin, Texas in 1985, later lived in Virginia Beach, and is now based in Tampa, Florida. Each move marked a new season of growth, healing, and spiritual direction.
What personal experiences influenced DeAnna’s message about healing and worthiness?
DeAnna shared painful chapters including childhood molestation, a teen pregnancy, and the trauma that followed an abortion decision. These experiences brought shame and guilt, but through returning to God, inner healing, and deep forgiveness, she found freedom, restored identity, and a renewed sense of worth.
Why does DeAnna emphasize forgiveness so strongly?
She teaches that forgiveness is not excusing what happened. It’s “soul care” that frees you from bitterness and emotional poisoning. DeAnna explained that unforgiveness can harm a person spiritually, physically, and mentally, while forgiveness opens the door to deeper healing and restoration.
