Watch the Alicia Garza Interview

Guest Information

Alicia Garza is a seasoned entrepreneur, executive coach, and nonprofit founder whose story is marked by grit, growth, and deep faith. Based in Louisiana (and proudly “a Texas girl at heart”), Alicia blends real-world business experience, lifelong learning, and a passion for helping women rise into their purpose with confidence and clarity.

With a diverse background that includes teaching, leading in the pipeline and oilfield industry, and earning advanced credentials in coaching and positive psychology (including John Maxwell certification), Alicia now leads Ascend 360 Coaching, where she supports high-potential women, from stay-at-home moms to executives, in overcoming self-doubt, aligning their mindset and values, and building a powerful legacy. Her work is rooted in resilience, practical strategy, and a belief that true transformation begins with self-awareness and healed inner blocks.

Alicia is also the founder of the bilingual nonprofit Mariposa Foundation, created to empower women who may not have access to coaching resources, ensuring more women can “find their way back to themselves” and unlock their full potential. After navigating a difficult season of divorce and multiple personal losses between 2018 and 2023, Alicia rebuilt from the inside out, leaning on prayer, journaling, and support systems, and now uses her testimony to encourage others: your worth isn’t defined by someone else’s decisions. Through coaching, community leadership, and her upcoming co-authored book Cracking the Rich Code, Volume 19, Alicia continues to help women move forward with purpose, courage, and resilience.

Question & Answer

Steve mentioned feeling unworthy and dealing with impostor syndrome that day. How did that set the tone for Alicia’s interview?

It created a real, vulnerable “you’re not alone” atmosphere. Steve reminded everyone that emotions don’t get to define truth, and the truth is we’re worthy of love, respect, and success. That opened the door for Alicia to share her own journey through self-doubt and resilience.

Who is Alicia Garza, and what makes her background stand out?

Alicia is an accomplished entrepreneur and executive coach with a diverse, hands-on business history. She’s worked across multiple sectors, earned a mid-career MBA from LSU, trained in coaching and positive psychology, and became a John Maxwell coach, speaker, and trainer. She also leads a nonprofit, the bilingual Mariposa Foundation, focused on helping women “find their way back to themselves.”

Where is Alicia from, and what does she enjoy outside of work?

She lives in Louisiana (in a small town south of New Orleans) and considers it home after about 30 years, though she still calls herself a “Texas girl” at heart. For fun, she loves learning (always has a book nearby), traveling, exercising, and spending time with her two daughters and five grandchildren, who all live close by.

What kind of clients does Alicia serve through Ascend 360 Coaching, and how does she help them?

She helps “high-potential women” who know they’re meant for more but feel stuck, often due to self-doubt, mindset noise, or unclear direction. Her coaching focuses on mindset alignment, values, purpose, and practical growth steps. She also emphasizes self-awareness, recognizing triggers, and distinguishing when a client may benefit from therapy for past wounds versus coaching for forward progress.

What season did Alicia describe as the hardest for her sense of worthiness, and what helped her push through?
  1. She pointed to the years following her divorce (separation in 2018, divorce in 2019), followed by a heavy stretch of loss and trauma from 2019–2023 (including multiple family deaths and a cancer battle in the family). What carried her through was deep faith, daily prayer, journaling, therapy, support from coaches, and a decision to keep moving forward. She emphasized she had to learn emotional management and stop tying her worth to someone else’s decisions.
