Question & Answer

Can you tell us about your background and where you live today?
I grew up in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, but Iβve lived in Florida for over 27 years. My husband is from here, and we now live in a small town called Bushnell near The Villages. We have a family-centered life with our three children, dogs, chickens, and plenty of outdoor activities like boating, spending time by the pool, and going to concerts together.
Your family story includes both loss and redemption. What was that journey like?
Early in our marriage, we discovered that my husband and I carried a rare genetic condition. We lost three biological childrenβtwo girls and a boyβwhich was incredibly difficult. Later, we adopted twin girls and a son. Looking back, I truly believe God had a plan for our family, and our children have brought immense joy and purpose into our lives.
How did you transition from occupational therapy to becoming an author and speaker?
I felt a persistent calling to write a book for many years. After facing a serious health challenge that required surgery on my femur, I finally began writing during my recovery. That journey eventually led to my book Eat Your Feelings, where I share my story of trauma, healing, and emotional awareness. Writing the book helped me process my experiences and inspired me to help other women share their stories as well.
What message do you hope people take away from your work and story?
I want people to understand the importance of emotional awareness and creating safe spaces for others. Our energy and presence can either help people feel safe or make them feel unseen. My journeyβfrom childhood trauma to healingβhas taught me that when we process our pain and share our stories, we can inspire others and create meaningful transformation in their lives.
