πŸ’™ From the Little Girl Inside to Wholeness πŸ’™

by | Jun 26, 2026

I just sat down with the amazing Dr. Liz DeBetta inside the You Are Worthy Network podcast, and what a powerful, emotional, and hope-filled conversation it was. ❤️

At just 14 years old, Liz wrote a poem called “The Little Girl Inside of Me.” She had no idea that those words were giving voice to wounds she didn’t yet understand. As a domestic adoptee with closed adoption records, she grew up wondering who her biological parents were and questioning where she truly belonged. 💔

With incredible vulnerability, Liz shared what it was like carrying those unanswered questions for years. Then, nine years ago, something beautiful happened. She met her biological mother. 🤗 Not only was the reunion a positive one, but they have continued building a meaningful relationship ever since. What once felt impossible became part of her healing journey. ❤️

One of my favorite moments came when I asked Liz what she would say to that 14-year-old girl who wrote The Little Girl Inside of Me.

Her answer was simple, beautiful, and filled with hope:

✨ “It’s going to be okay…and amazing things are going to happen.” ✨

Today, Liz is helping others discover that same hope.

As the founder of Migrating Toward Wholeness™, she walks alongside adoptees, former foster youth, and others carrying deep emotional wounds, helping them move from:

💔 Terrified ➡️ Joyful
😔 Empty ➡️ Connected
🤍 Feeling Unworthy ➡️ Knowing They Are Worthy

She also shared the excitement of recently collaborating with a peer to host the first-ever adoptee retreatβ€”creating a safe space for healing, connection, and belonging. ❤️ The experience was so impactful that they are now planning to offer these retreats twice each year, giving even more adoptees the opportunity to find community, hope, and wholeness. 🌿🤝

Her own journey led her to earn a Ph.D., publish the acclaimed book Adult Adoptees and Writing to Heal: Migrating Toward Wholeness, create an award-winning one-woman show, and develop a transformational framework that combines storytelling, embodied awareness, and trauma-informed healing. 🎭📖🎓

Through 1:1 coaching, small-group cohorts, retreats, workshops, and institutional trainings, Liz is helping adoptees, former foster youth, and organizations better understand the lifelong impact of adoption trauma while creating spaces where healing can truly begin. 💙

This conversation is about so much more than adoption.

It’s about identity.
It’s about healing.
It’s about finding your voice.
It’s about believing that your story isn’t over yet. 🌱

If you’ve ever wrestled with questions about your worth, your past, or where you belong, I believe this conversation will encourage your heart.

❤️ Your past does not get the final word.
✨ Healing is possible.
🙌 You are worthy.
